Robot Target by Polytronic - RT

The Polytronic Robotic Target Program completes the company's approach to providing a full spectrum live fire training capability solution. A step forward in the live fire training environment enhancing realism through semi-autonomous robotic targets with interactive behaviour and unpredictable reactions and movements. Taking marksmanship to the next level, from static and predictable target reactions and patterns, to more realistic and immersive live fire training. An intelligent robotic target system, versatile, realistic that is easy to operate.

Modularity & Scalability

Matching the individual requirements of all different end-users is a challenge on its own. The Polytronic R.T. program provides the answer by being modular and scalable at the same time. Our robotic targets enable the end-user to create realistic live fire scenario-based training activities in a range of different environments.

RT - CQB

Small, agile, realistic - the main characteristics of the RT-CQB. It can hide behind furniture, quickly appear almost out of nowhere and is fitted with Near Miss Detection System.

Interactivity by LOMAH & Hit Sensing

LOMAH and Hit Sensing capability are key to interactivity in the live fire training environment. Adding LOMAH, Near Miss Detection and Hit Sensing capability to the R.T. fleet allows appropriate interactive and realistic target reactions to be programmed via the user-friendly control system AROS. A 360° - LOMAH fitted to a Polytronic R.T. provides additional AAR capabilities for Sniper training or allows the R.T. to hide in case of a miss, thus creating an interactive and realistic live fire training environment. The Near Miss Detection System can be mounted to the R.T. forcing a single, or group, of robots to retreat when shots nearby are detected, or stay covered, as long as suppressive fire is applied by the BLUE force.

Hit Sensing capability is integrated in every 3D mannequin providing information about the lethality of a hit on target and triggering appropriate target reaction such as fall or retreat. Adding hit sensors to 3D cars or tank mock-ups further enhance training realism by appropriate hit reaction. While a hit on the wheels or tracks will force a target to stop movement or change movement direction, a direct hit on the engine block or the turret of a tank will indicate the target is neutralized.

Intelligence and Control

RT-M snapshot 3

The RT internal brain contains autonomous path finding capability and intelligence sensor fusion technology, giving the RT a semi-autonomous behaviour pattern. Adding Dynamic Obstacle Avoidance Technology keeps the RT on track, driving it to its targeted position, independently avoiding and circumnavigating known and unknown objects with realistic movement behaviour.

LIDAR and/or GPS provide the actual physical location of any RT to AROS, the Advanced Range Operating Software. The very user friendly AROS graphics interface has an intuitive design allowing easy control of individual or multiple RTs. With AROS the operator selects the target, draws its path and selects the desired behaviour, eg. retreat when shot, in accordance with the planned training scenario. Via drag and drop, further targets can be added to the scenario and similarly programmed individually or tasked with a “follow-me” behaviour, having additional RTs following the first RT and moving in tactical formations. AROS being an open platform and interface for all targetry on the range, there is no need to switch control software when using different targetry types, whether static electronic targets or robotic targets. One control for all is the concept, making it as easy and user friendly as possible.
